Results are posted... The Circuit headed to it's southernmost stop of the season for the annual Surfin' Safari Regatta. Corpus is known for it's strong afternoon sea breeze and chop. Both Saturday and Sunday provided plenty of breeze to work with as the Texas J/24s shreded the bay. |

As in years past, a special yearly burgee goes to the Crewman of the Year. The Crewman of the Year nomination is only open to the Skippers of those boats qualifying as a Road Warrior. Each Skipper submits a letter of nomination, and the letters are given to an anonymous Board for consideration. This year's nominees ranged from seasoned crewmembers who have been involved in the Texas Circuit for many years to relatively new crewmembers to the Circuit. One thing that all nominees have in common is that they are all willing to step up support the J/24 class and the Texas Circuit. I am proud to announce that the 2007 Crewmember of the Year is Philip Carroll aboard Bad Moon. Below is the letter that was presented to the Board. Congratulations Philip! |

Midwinter Update…Texas took Tampa by storm with five boats participating in the Midwinters and three remaining to participate in the St. Petersburg NOOD. There were 44 boats signed up to race at the Midwinters, and there was no shortage of talent and competition on hand. Even after 4 days of racing, there was little room for error on the race course. At any given moment, points between a set of boats ranged from 1 to 10. There was lots of opportunity to move up…and to move down! |

Did you know the Texas Circuit does not only sail in Texas? In 2007, three of the Texas Circuit competitors, Kelly Holmes-Moon (Bad Moon), Charles Singstad (Code Blue) and Tonja Sanchez (Siren) competed in the Midwinters in Tampa, Florida. In February 2008, five of the Texas boats will be competing in the Midwinters, and three will stay to race in the St. Pete NOODs. Ask Roger Harden (New Rules), Bob Harden (Mr. Happy), Kelly Holmes-Moon (Bad Moon), Charles Singstad (Code Blue) and Tonja Sanchez (Siren) how their racing went when you see them at the Beasley Cup. Did you know the oldest boat to compete in the 2007 Texas Circuit is Marc Holdaway aboard Mutinous Dogs USA 43? The newest boat is our 2007 Texas Circuit Champion, Roger Harden on New Rules USA 5328. As you can see, the J/24 is a superior boat, lasting well over 30 years and still competing! Be sure to check out all of the features on this new J/24 District 14 website. We are still working on making it better, and in the end we hope it will be a communication tool for both skippers and crew. Please send any feedback to me or the administrator if you see anything that can be improved. Here's to a great 2008 racing year! Kelly Holmes-Moon District 14 Governor Badmoon USA 267 |
